Caring is a Community Affair. Friends & Neighbors/Doctor/Patients
To Whom It May Concern:
In 2012 when we opened our office to the community we realized that patient assistance for this area was very much in need. As a result, we started our Patient Caring Fund and had our first fundraiser to raise money to help people in need with gas cards, grocery cards, prescription copayments, fuel for the homes, car repairs and many more services. We are currently planning our 3rd fundraiser on July 11, 2015 at the Northeast Kingdom Brewery. They are donating the space for the day. Many others in the community are also lending a hand.
We are looking for donations to help keep this fund alive in this community. The donations will be used towards patients who are in need of assistance. Here at Northeast Kingdom Hematology Oncology (NEKHO), we care about our patients and the people who make this community a beautiful place to live.
We are also in the process of getting sponsors to produce a t-shirt for the people in this community to show their support for our cause to help the patients in need. Advertising for a square will be $250.00 with all proceeds going to the caring fund.
Thank you for your kind generosity and for caring for our community. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have at 802-334-7177.
Sincerely, Leslie Lockridge, MD NEKHO
About the Clinic
When Dr. Leslie Lockridge arrived in Newport several years ago, he didn’t come to just treat people with cancer, he came here to fully ingrain himself into the region. In the years since his arrival, he has done just that, and at the same time he has earned the respect of his patients.
Although he is best known for his work as an oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Lockridge also now provides primary adult medical care in his busy medical practice at 637 Union Street in Newport.
As a show of appreciation, some of Dr. Lockridge’s patients and supporters have teamed up to launch the Leslie C. Lockridge Caring Fund so he can even better serve the needs of the patients of the region. Funds raised are to help expand patient services.
One of the people he has touched the life of is P.J. Keeler of West Charleston.
“My ‘Nana’ had Dr. Lockridge for a doctor when she had cancer,” Keeler said. “Before she passed away I promised her we’d ‘pay it forward’ and do something good for Dr. Lockridge and his patients. He is such a wonderful doctor. He treated her with TLC. He went above and beyond to help her. He treats all patients the same.”
Dr. Lockridge says of the unexpected efforts to launch the Leslie C. Lockridge Caring Fund, “I am so appreciative about what they are doing, not just for me, but for the patients of the area,” he said. “This is a collaborative effort by the community to preserve and improve hematology and oncology, and healthcare in the region.”
Anyone who would like to donate to the cause, can stop by any Passumpsic Savings Bank branch and ask to have their donation deposited into the “Leslie C. Lockridge Caring Fund” or mail it to the Passumpsic Savings Bank, PO Box 218, Newport, VT 05855. Specify the name of the fund.
